Rust Belt Industrial Paintings
My paintings are abstract – close ups of the machines used centuries ago during Montana’s early labor development. I find beauty in the layered colors and stains of abandoned metal monoliths once used to extract natural resources‚ now left for dead‚ their carcasses scattered throughout this pristine landscape. A Montanan myself‚ I feel solidarity with my distant kinfolk whose salty sweat helped patina the surfaces of these iron work horses. These richly colored heaps of rust belt history should be respected as a memorial for all those who clung onto those massive beasts in order to work the land.
